South coast beaches in Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole implement a £2 per night visitor charge (tourist tax) to fund local events and infrastructure.
South coast beaches in Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole have approved a £2 per night visitor charge (tourist tax) launched by Accommodation BID (Business Improvement District). This is similar to charges in Europe and the USA, with funds to be invested into local events and infrastructure, such as the Air Festival, Arts by the Sea, Poole Christmas Maritime, and Christmas Tree Wonderland. The tax is predicted to generate £12m in the next five years for the area.
