Orbital Marine Power, developer of the world's most powerful tidal turbine, selected Global Energy Group's Port of Nigg in Scotland for the manufacture and assembly of its tidal turbines for Orkney projects. The projects, secured under the UK Government's Contract for Difference auction rounds 4 and 5, are expected to begin manufacturing in 2022 with first power anticipated in 2026. Orbital aims to use a predominantly UK-based supply chain for its tidal projects, boosting UK job creation.
