Nigeria's Labour Congress (NLC) president, Joe Ajaero, stated that the union would disown its 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, if he adopts policies of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank. Ajaero explained that the NLC's stance on removing petrol and electricity subsidies is firm, and any Labour Party president who implements these policies would face opposition from the union.
