Kashmiri journalist Asif Sultan has been granted bail by a special court in Srinagar in a 5-year-old case under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). Sultan, who has been in jail since 2018, faced charges of harboring militants and participating in a jail riot. The court granted bail, but imposed strict conditions, including a ban on using encrypted messaging apps or proxy networks, and requiring permission to purchase a new mobile phone or SIM card.
