Cameroon's military has rescued over 300 civilians from Boko Haram captivity near its border with Nigeria and Chad, in an operation called Alpha. The army claims scores of militants were neutralized during the operation. The rescued hostages were mostly women and children. Cameroon's military was assisted by government troops from Chad and Nigeria in assaults on some Boko Haram strongholds in border localities.
