Air Force instructor pilot dies from ejection seat activation during ground operations at Sheppard Air Force Base, following previous T-6A Texan II accidents.
An Air Force instructor pilot died from injuries sustained when their ejection seat inadvertently activated during ground operations at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas. This incident follows a series of accidents involving T-6A Texan II training planes, including the temporary grounding of 76 of these aircraft in 2022 over concerns of a potentially defective ejection seat part. The T-6A Texan II serves as a primary trainer for pilots from the Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps.
