Abu Dhabi launches the largest hybrid cord blood bank, Abu Dhabi Biobank, to improve treatment access, survival rates, and reduce economic burdens.
Abu Dhabi has launched the Abu Dhabi Biobank, the region's largest hybrid cord blood bank, as part of an initiative to improve treatment access, survival rates, and reduce economic burdens on governments. The facility, located in Masdar City, aims to create a diverse dataset for better-matched hemopoietic stem cells globally, potentially shortening waiting times for treatment, improving survival rates, and supporting the treatment of rare diseases, early detection, and disease prevention, as well as life sciences research for medical innovation and novel drug discovery targets. The Abu Dhabi Biobank is part of the emirate's vision to build a global biobanking hub, contributing to personalized, precise, and preventative healthcare.
