Auckland's New Lynn town centre is witnessing a rise in assaults involving students, with a community patrol volunteer claiming the incidents to be led by several "ringleaders" aged between 9 and 13 years. The police are aware of the ring leaders and have made arrests in connection with recent aggravated robberies and assaults. Auckland Transport has deployed a security officer at New Lynn bus station and police will continue to patrol the area.
