21-year-old Florida resident Xavier Batten has been sentenced to 3.5 years in federal prison for his role in the March 2022 firebombing of a Planned Parenthood clinic in Costa Mesa, California. Batten advised Chance Brannon, a then-U.S. Marine, on how to build a Molotov cocktail, which was ultimately used in the attack. Batten pleaded guilty to possession of an unregistered destructive device and intentionally damaging a reproductive health services facility, in violation of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act.
