West Mercia Police received an "inadequate" rating from the HMICFRS for their response to serious and organised crime, with criticisms including limited data, weak partnerships, and overemphasis on catching offenders rather than preventing crime. The force, serving Herefordshire, Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, and Worcestershire, has been given until January 2025 to complete improvements. Despite the rating, the West Midlands region's overall response to serious and organised crime was rated "adequate."
