Uganda negotiates $180m deal with Sinohydro for a 138-km high-voltage line to export power to South Sudan.

Uganda is negotiating a $180 million agreement with Chinese firm Sinohydro Corporation Limited to build a 138-km high-voltage transmission line to export power to South Sudan. The project also includes expanding two substations and constructing a new one. Sinohydro is completing a $1.5 billion, 600 MW hydropower project on the River Nile in northern Uganda, which will be the source for the electricity exports to South Sudan.
