Japan's Rakuten Group reported a Q1 operating loss of ¥33.3bn ($213m), its 15th consecutive quarterly loss, due to mobile unit losses despite robust fintech growth. The fintech arm, which includes banking, brokering, cards, and insurance, achieved its highest-ever operating profit of ¥39.3bn. However, the mobile unit's build-out costs and subscriber growth struggles led to an operating loss of ¥71.9bn.
