Saskatchewan opens in-province ballistics lab for firearms analysis, expediting investigations.
Saskatchewan has opened a new ballistics lab in Saskatoon, which will now allow firearms analysis to be conducted within the province. This lab will cut the time spent on investigations and help link firearms to more than one crime. Previously, evidence had to be sent to an RCMP lab in Ottawa or Surrey, causing significant delays. The lab is funded $3 million by the provincial government and is expected to move to its own building next year.
