An oil spill along the East Coast of Ireland affects seabirds, kills 50 birds, and its source and location are unknown.
An oil spill along the East Coast of Ireland has affected seabirds and poses a threat to local wildlife, killing an estimated 50 birds thus far. Kildare Wildlife Rescue, the Oiled Wildlife Response Network, and other animal rescue organisations are working to save as many affected birds as possible. The source and precise location of the oil spill remain unknown, despite efforts by the Coast Guard and National Parks and Wildlife Service. Minister of State for Nature, Heritage and Electoral Reform, Malcolm Noonan, says discussions are ongoing with State agencies to formulate a national wildlife plan in the event of a major oil spill.
