Nigeria's labour unions, NLC and TUC, protest against electricity tariff increases and threaten a total strike.
Nigeria's labour unions, including the NLC and TUC, staged protests across the country against recent electricity tariff increases. They picketed offices of Distribution Companies (DisCos) and the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), demanding a reversal of the tariff hike and improved electricity supply. The unions argued that the tariff increases are discriminatory and will further impoverish Nigerians. If their demands are not met, they have threatened a total strike that could potentially shut down Nigeria's economy.
