Ireland to introduce digital driving licences later this year, allowing drivers to store their licence in a wallet app on their smartphone. The digital licences, which will have a built-in signature, will be trialled with civil servants before being rolled out to the public. Users will still have the option to opt for a physical plastic credit card-style licence. The digital version offers protection against losing or damaging the licence.
