The Illinois Department of Corrections has testified in front of state lawmakers, with the General Assembly's Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability tasked with recommending the governor's plan to close and rebuild prisons in central Illinois and Chicago's south suburbs. The Pritzker administration can proceed with the plan if funding is allocated in the next state budget.
