Germany's ZEW Economic Sentiment Index improved to 47.1 in May, exceeding the market expectation of 46.3. The Current Situation Index also increased to -72.3, surpassing the analyst estimate of -75. The ZEW Institute attributes the positive shift to better assessments of the overall Eurozone and of China as a key export market, indicating signs of economic recovery.
