Alberta NDP leadership candidate Gil McGowan has dropped out of the race, citing the final instalment of the $60,000 candidate fee as too high a barrier. The party announced it has reached an all-time high of 85,144 members, surpassing its previous record of 30,000. McGowan's departure leaves four remaining candidates: Edmonton legislature members Sarah Hoffman and Jodi Calahoo Stonehouse, Calgary MLA Kathleen Ganley, and former Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi.
