UK motorists warned to avoid parking under trees in summer due to increased greenfly population causing car paint damage.
Motorists in the UK are warned to avoid parking under trees during summer due to an expected increase in greenfly population due to early summer sunshine and higher temperatures. Greenfly droppings, known as 'honeydew', can rot car paintwork and damage soft tops on convertibles, potentially leading to £800 for a new roof or £1,200 for respray. The sticky residue can turn into acidic black mould spores that damage paintwork if left untreated.
