Study suggests TBI patients with life support withdrawn may survive, regain independence after injury.
A new study by Mass General Brigham investigators suggests that some traumatic brain injury (TBI) patients for whom life support was withdrawn may have survived and recovered some level of independence a few months after injury. The findings, published in the Journal of Neurotrauma, support a more cautious approach to early decision-making for brain injury patients receiving life support, as predicting outcomes following a brain injury can be challenging.
