Patient reports nurse's sexual assault to HDC, investigation confirms boundary violation, nurse may face disciplinary tribunal.
A patient reported a nurse's sexual assault to the Health and Disability Commissioner (HDC) after receiving no contact or apology from the hospital for two years. Deputy Health and Disability Commissioner Dr Vanessa Caldwell investigated a "gross boundary violation" and concluded that the nurse sexually exploited the patient. The nurse has been referred to the Director of Proceedings, who may decide on further action, including charges before the Health Practitioners' Disciplinary Tribunal.
