200 NZ dealers received electric car subsidies and violated law by selling cars too quickly, NZTA requires repayment.
New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) discovered nearly 200 cases where car dealers received electric vehicle subsidies of up to $7,000 per car, then violated the law by selling them too quickly. The dealers signed declarations stating they would keep the vehicles as demonstration, courtesy, or company cars for at least three months but failed to comply. NZTA now requires dealers to repay the rebates.
