A volcano in eastern Indonesia, Mount Ibu, erupted on Monday, spewing a huge ash tower more than five kilometers into the sky. The eruption happened after authorities raised the alert level to the second-highest last week. No damage or casualties were reported, but nearby residents were advised to wear facemasks and glasses when going outdoors to protect against falling volcanic ash. The alert level remains at the second-highest of four tiers.
