2025 Mazda CX-5 and CX-50 to feature Mazda-developed hybrid powertrains, replacing Toyota technology.

Mazda confirms next-generation CX-5 will get a Mazda-developed hybrid powertrain, marking a change from using Toyota hybrid technology. The CX-50 crossover is also set for hybridization, with both models expected to arrive in 2025. The in-house hybrid development is part of Mazda's electrification strategy, which also includes hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions of its Large Product group.
