84% of publicans report that no family members wish to inherit their pub, according to a Vintners Federation of Ireland (VFI) survey. The survey also revealed that 37% of publicans are considering retirement within the next two years. VFI CEO Pat Crotty warns that rising costs, including the planned introduction of a living wage by 2026, are putting the viability of the pub trade at risk.
