India to sign 10-year Chabahar port management deal with Iran, expanding regional influence.

India is expected to sign a 10-year pact with Iran to manage the Chabahar port, marking the first instance of India taking over the management of an overseas port. This move is seen as a significant geopolitical outreach to Iran and has major regional implications, as the port serves as a counterbalance to Pakistan's Gwadar port and China's Belt and Road Initiative. Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal is expected to travel to Iran for the signing ceremony.
