European Union demands explanation from Eurovision organizers for banning EU flag from final.
The European Union has demanded an explanation from the Eurovision Song Contest organizers for banning the EU flag from the event's final. Although the EU did not compete, many of its member states participated. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which organizes the contest, allowed only flags representing participating countries and the rainbow-colored flag for the LGBTQ+ community. The EU Commission called the ban "completely regrettable" and plans to have a "very lively discussion" with the EBU.
