The European Union (EU) has added Booking.com to its list of digital companies that fall under tougher competition rules, designating it as a "gatekeeper" under the Digital Markets Act (DMA). The EU also announced it will investigate whether social media platform X, owned by Elon Musk, can be exempted from these rules. Booking.com now has six months to prepare for compliance with the DMA, which aims to level the playing field in the digital market.
