Curator of New York's American Museum of Natural History, Lorenzo Prendini, was arrested at Istanbul Airport for allegedly attempting to smuggle around 1,500 spider and scorpion samples, including tarantulas, out of Turkey. The valuable specimens, native to Turkey, were collected for their DNA and potential to produce medicinal venom. Turkey's anti-smuggling law charges the curator.
