Chicago mom Suzy Flack, who lost her 34-year-old son Andrew to cancer in 2022, is using Mother's Day to urge Illinois lawmakers to pass medical aid-in-dying legislation. Her son, a special-education teacher in California, chose to stay there to take advantage of its legal medical aid-in-dying option. The proposed legislation would allow mentally capable, terminally ill adults with six months or less to live to request a prescription for life-ending medication.
