Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is increasing in England, particularly drug-resistant Klebsiella infections, which rose by 43% over six years. AMR cases in Oxfordshire increased from 91 in 2017-18 to 129 in 2022-23. The UK Health Security Agency is investigating factors like an ageing population, improved surveillance, and respiratory infections. The government aims to contain and control AMR by 2040.
