Matthew Rankin, a Winnipeg-born filmmaker, is proud to represent his city's 'anti-mainstream' film scene at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, alongside veteran filmmaker Guy Maddin. Rankin's film, "Universal Language", will premiere at Directors' Fortnight, while Maddin's dark comedy, "Rumours", will debut out of competition.
