The Pittsburgh Pirates promoted top draft pick, Paul Skenes, to their roster, ahead of his major league debut against the Chicago Cubs. Skenes, who dominated at Triple-A Indianapolis, posted a 0.99 ERA in seven starts. The Pirates designated right-hander Roansy Contreras for assignment, making room for Skenes, and also placed third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes on the injured list with back problems.
