2 "out of control" wildfires have ignited northeast of Merritt, BC. The Lauder Creek wildfire, discovered on May 10, is 8 hectares, and the second wildfire on Swakum Mountain is 2.5 hectares. Both are suspected human-caused and are being battled by more than 30 firefighters and helicopters. The BC Wildfire Service is monitoring and working to extinguish these fires throughout the day.
