India's coal imports rose 7.7% in FY24 to 268.24 million tonnes (MT), driven by lower seaborne prices and expected increased power demand during summer. In March 2024, coal imports grew to 23.96 MT from 21.12 MT in the same month of FY23. Non-coking coal imports increased to 15.33 MT from 13.88 MT, while coking coal imports reached 5.34 MT from 3.96 MT. India's all-India coal production in FY24 grew 11.65% to 997.25 MT.
