Northern Lights visible in southern US due to G5 geomagnetic storm, first since October 2003.

Northern Lights, or aurora borealis, were seen across parts of the US, including areas as far south as Virginia, South Carolina, and Florida, due to a strong geomagnetic storm. This was the first time a storm of this magnitude has happened since October 2003. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Space Weather Prediction Center reported a G5 storm, which caused the aurora to be visible farther south than usual.
