Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has paid over N4.3bn ($10.6m) in outstanding gratuities to retired state and local government workers who had been owed since 2011. A committee was established to authenticate and validate retirees' data, discovering a total debt of N13.4bn. Four batches of payments were made, providing relief to retirees who had been waiting for years to receive their benefits.
