24-year-old Dmitry Cattell was sentenced to 21 years in federal prison without parole for leading a conspiracy to distribute fentanyl in Kansas City. Cattell distributed at least 6,225 doses of fentanyl from September 2019 to April 2022 and was also convicted of possessing a firearm in relation to a drug-trafficking crime and being an illegal drug user in possession of a firearm. His actions resulted in an overdose death, and he is one of 11 defendants convicted in this case.
