A rare solar storm could bring a potential show of Northern Lights as far south as Alabama this weekend, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The solar storm, caused by at least seven coronal mass ejections (CMEs) from the sun, is expected to reach Earth on Friday and last until Sunday. These solar events can cause disruptions in satellite orbit and ground-based infrastructure such as navigation systems, radio communications, and power grids.
