Meghalaya's first woman and tribal DGP, Idashisha Nongrang, appointed starting May 20.
Meghalaya's first woman Director General of Police (DGP), Idashisha Nongrang, a 1992 IPS officer, is appointed starting May 20, succeeding LR Bishnoi. Nongrang, from a tribal background, was recommended by the Empanelment Committee of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Chief Minister Conrad Sangma congratulates and praises her as the first tribal lady from the state to hold the position of DGP.
