Gold miner AngloGold Ashanti reported a 2% increase in gold production in Q1 to 581,000 oz, despite heavy rain and flooding in Australia. CEO Alberto Calderon said the company is seeing greater consistency from most operations, including better performance from Brazilian mines, while the Obuasi mine in Ghana is ramping up. The company expects an annualised production rate of 360,000 oz for the mine by Q3.
