Chinese scientists link sea surface temperature anomalies in the tropical Indian Ocean to global dengue epidemics, enabling 9-month advance warnings.
Chinese scientists from Beijing Normal University discovered a correlation between sea surface temperature anomalies in the tropical Indian Ocean and global dengue epidemics. Their study, using climate-driven mechanistic models and data from 46 countries, can now provide dengue warnings up to nine months ahead, an improvement over previous models with a three-month warning period. Separately, China delivered data from a cube satellite onboard the Chang'e-6 spacecraft to Pakistan, strengthening lunar exploration cooperation between the two countries.
