Canadian Blood Services apologized for its past policy banning gay and bisexual men from donating blood.
Canadian Blood Services has issued an apology to the LGBTQ+ community for its past policy that banned gay and bisexual men from donating blood. The past policy was replaced in 2022 with new rules that ask all donors the same questions about their sexual behavior. Canadian Blood Services CEO, Graham Sher, personally apologized to the community for the policy that contributed to discrimination, homophobia, transphobia, and HIV stigma.
