Canada's Immigration Minister, Marc Miller, plans to reduce temporary resident percentage.

Canada's Immigration Minister, Marc Miller, has announced plans to reduce the number of temporary residents in the country, aiming to decrease the percentage of temporary residents from 6.2% of the population in 2023 to 5% over the next three years. The government plans to set targets for the number of temporary residents it will allow, alongside those it already sets for permanent residents. The talks will continue into the summer and will include discussions about the sharing of responsibilities to house asylum seekers between provinces, as well as ways to ensure that Canada's work permit programs are not misused or exploited.
