75-year-old Dennis Thompson, the only remaining original member and drummer of influential proto-punk band MC5, has passed away. Thompson, nicknamed "Machine Gun" for his aggressive drumming style, played on MC5's studio albums and was part of their 1969 album 'Kick Out the Jams.' The band was recently announced as inductees for the 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame class, an honor Thompson expressed delight about before his death.
