Thailand closed Pling Island and Sirinart National Park coral reefs due to coral bleaching from rising seawater temperatures and heatwave.

Thailand closed an island after discovering extensive coral bleaching, caused by rising seawater temperatures and a deadly heatwave. Pling Island and the coral reefs around Sirinart National Park in Phuket will be temporarily closed. The Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation is also monitoring other national parks for potential bleaching.
