12th Malaysia Plan allocates RM1.49 billion (20%) to Sabah's development, with Kinabatangan receiving RM77.35 million.

Deputy PM, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, announced that the federal government prioritizes allocation to Sabah. This year, RM1.49 billion or 20% of RM7.43 billion of the Development allocation under the 12th Malaysia Plan's Fourth Rolling Plan (RP4) has been allocated to Sabah. In Kinabatangan district, RM77.35 million has been allocated for development purposes, including public facilities, communication infrastructure, and rural utilities.
