Actor Joel Edgerton admitted on the Bingeworthy podcast that he failed his Guardians of the Galaxy audition for Star-Lord, a role Chris Pratt ultimately landed. Edgerton said he didn't understand the tone director James Gunn was going for and is glad he didn't get the part, adding, "the world is a much better place that I'm not Star-Lord." Edgerton isn't the only actor who auditioned for the role.
