Huawei may switch to its own HarmonyOS for global smartphones due to U.S. trade restrictions.

Huawei may switch to its own HarmonyOS for global smartphones, according to a Nikkei Asia report. The Chinese tech giant is reportedly planning to include HarmonyOS Next exclusively, rather than Android OS, on its smart products. The new platform will support 4,000 apps initially, expanding to 5,000 within a year. Huawei's transition to its home-grown OS is driven by U.S. trade restrictions.
